Refer Patients with Back Pain to the UH Spine Institute

New multidisciplinary center up and running at 17 locations across Northeast Ohio

UH Clinical Update - February 2018

Back pain is one of the most common reasons for both missed work and doctor visits, affecting 80 percent of the population at some stage. If you have a patient suffering from back pain or another spine problem, expert help is available through the new UH Spine Institute.

UH Spine Institute specializes in everything from treatment of back pain and degenerative conditions to complex spinal deformities and cancer care. Patients have access to groundbreaking, minimally invasive surgery, with image-guided, computer-assisted procedures, laparoscopic fusion techniques and precision proton therapy for spinal tumors.

Spine surgeon Zachary Gordon, MD, emphasizes UH's goal to deliver the best quality spine care regionally and nationally.

“Our expert team of physiatrists, pain management physicians, physical therapists, integrative medicine, and surgeons strive to provide the best treatment as soon as possible to get people back to their lives," Dr. Gordon says. “Our physicians are highly trained in the most recent medical and surgical techniques, and are true experts in their fields presenting research on a local, national and international level. Whatever the patient's needs are, we can deliver. Developing a comprehensive spine institute has allowed us to achieve our goal and continue to improve the lives of our patients across Northern Ohio."

Personalized spine care is provided at 17 locations across Northeast Ohio, from main campus to Ashland and Sheffield Lake to Twinsburg. See a list of conditions treated and the full list of locations on the UH website.

Patients should call the special scheduling number 216-286-8888 to be triaged to the appropriate spine specialist.
