University Hospitals’ Roe Green Center for Travel Medicine is pleased to offer a new, convenient way to obtain a pre-travel consult. Using a mobile device, laptop, or computer, patients can now connect with one of our travel medicine physicians to plan for their trip wherever it is convenient for them.
A pre-travel virtual health consultation includes the following services:
- Itinerary analysis based on length of stay and expected activities
- Vaccinations
- Counseling on which prescriptions/medications to bring
- Educational information for destination-specific medical needs
- High-risk medical planning, if necessary.
An on-site appointment is required for all required vaccinations.
“When it comes to international travel to developing countries, many people don’t realize that proper medical preparation is key to staying healthy,” states Keith Armitage, MD, medical director of the Roe Green Center for Travel Medicine.
To make an appointment for a pre-travel virtual consultation, please advise your patients to call 216-844-8500 or fill out and submit the following request form (this lives on the travel medicine website; please connect to it). An administrator from the travel medicine program will contact your patient to set up an appointment time and provide instructions on how to use the service.
This is a fee-for-service program that is not covered by insurance. The cost for each appointment is $79/person. Payment is expected via credit card at the time the appointment is made. Students and all UH employees, including physicians and residents, receive a 30% discount. This program is only available to patients who live in Ohio.
