Inaugural list developed by Modern Healthcare magazine

CLEVELAND -- Jeffrey H. Peters, MD, of University Hospitals, has been named to Modern Healthcare magazine’s inaugural list of Top 25 Chief Operating Officers in Healthcare for 2017.

Dr. Peters was appointed COO at UH in 2014 and is accountable for the operational and financial performance of organizational initiatives for the UH health system, annually serving more than 1 million patients.

Major achievements in which he has played a central role include: Improved care quality and patient experience; expansion of wholly owned UH system hospitals from 10 to 15; establishment of the Department of Clinical Integration to implement and manage physician-alignment strategies; and the emergence of the Harrington Project for Discovery & Development at UH as a global model for accelerating breakthrough therapeutic insights to commercialization.

Dr. Peters is a surgeon by training and a professor of surgery at Case Western Reserve University School of Medicine. He earned his medical degree at The Ohio State University.
