Christopher Tangen, DO
Christopher Tangen, DO, is a specialist in sports medicine and an associate medical team physician for the Cleveland Browns.
Dr. Tangen is board certified in Family Medicine with a Certificate of Added Qualifications in Sports Medicine. He is also certified in basic life support and advanced cardiac life support.
Dr. Tangen earned a bachelor’s degree in microbiology from Miami University in Oxford, Ohio. While at Miami University, he was a starter for the varsity wrestling team. He then earned his degree in Osteopathic Medicine from Des Moines University in Des Moines, Iowa. He completed a family medicine residency at University Hospitals Cleveland Medical Center and a fellowship in primary care sports medicine at University Hospitals Rainbow Babies & Children’s Hospital.
He has been a presenter at local, regional and national sports medicine conferences. He also serves as the program director for the traditional rotating internship, and is also core faculty for the family medicine residency at UH Regional Hospitals.
Dr. Tangen is the head team physician for Bedford High School, Charles F. Brush High School, and Richmond Heights High School.
Dr. Tangen has an interest in all aspects of sports medicine including acute/chronic injuries, concussions, and injury prevention. He is also interested in preventative family medicine care, urgent care medicine, osteopathic manipulation, and sports physicals.
