Susannah Briskin, MD

Susannah M. Briskin, MD, FAAP, is a pediatrician in the Division of Sports Medicine and Fellowship Director for the Primary Care Sports Medicine program, the only American Osteopathic Association and Accreditation Council for Graduate Medical Education dually accredited fellowship program in pediatric sports medicine in the country, at University Hospitals Rainbow Babies & Children's Hospital. She is Assistant Professor, Pediatrics, Case Western Reserve University School of Medicine.
She is board certified in sports medicine with a Certificate of Added Qualifications in sports medicine and is certified in pediatric advanced life support. Her special interest is in the prevention and management of sports injuries in young athletes, including concussion.
Dr. Briskin is a graduate of the University of Rochester and the University of Rochester School of Medicine, Rochester, N.Y. She completed a residency in pediatrics at UH Rainbow Babies & Children's Hospital where she was Chief Resident in her final year of training. She completed a fellowship in primary care sports medicine at Akron Children's Hospital, Akron, Ohio and joined the UH Rainbow Babies & Children's Hospital in 2005.
Dr. Briskin has published more than a dozen papers in peer-reviewed journals and textbook chapters. She is a reviewer for Pediatrics and Current Sports Medicine Reports and a frequent presenter at medical conferences, including the American Academy of Pediatrics National Conference, the American Medical Society for Sports Medicine and the American College of Sports Medicine Annual Meeting. She also is a popular speaker at local sports health events for parents, coaches and young athletes.
She is Medical Co-Director for the Ohio Youth Soccer Association North and team physician for that organization’s Olympic Development Program. She also is head team physician for Hathaway Brown School and assistant team physician for Case Western Reserve University. Nationally, she has served as team physician for a number of elite athletic competitions, including the U.S. Senior Games, the U.S. Junior National Figure Skating Championship and the U.S. Open Wrestling Tournament.
She is a Fellow of the American Academy of Pediatrics and a member of the Council on Sports Medicine and Fitness, American Medical Society of Sports Medicine, American College of Sports Medicine and Alpha Omega Alpha Medical Honor Society.
