Target Audience:
This program is intended for a community hospital audience including physicians, athletic trainers, and other members of the health care team that provide care to patients who have sustained concussions. Most presentations will target primary care and sports medicine physicians in clinical practice, though athletic trainers, other healthcare providers that work with patients that have sustained a concussion, office managers and administrators may also benefit from awareness and discussion of clinical initiatives and quality management issues.

 

Learning Objectives
After participating in this activity participants will be able to:

  •        Discuss a history and update on Concussion Management services and the Concussion Specialist at University Hospitals. 
  •        Identify signs and symptoms that may indicate a more severe traumatic brain injury or other neurological event that    requires to be urgently managed.
  •        Describe concussion signs, symptoms, pathophysiology, expected outcomes following concussion, and review UH Concussion Management Resources.
  •        Discuss recent clinically relevant publications including information regarding the use of telehealth procedures in concussion management services and SCAT5 interpretation in college athletes.
